Technical sheet
Hydrotank
Indoor hydronic module for floor installation
Hydrotank is the indoor hydronic module for underfloor installation of the Ecodan line, equipped with a 170, 200 or 300 liter stainless steel sanitary storage tank. Hydrotank is particularly compact and contains inside all the main components of primary plumbing and DHW production.
Care has been taken in the smallest details, in fact Hydrotank:
- has a simple, modern and elegant design;
- has small dimensions that allow installation even in small niches, closets, etc. ...;
- has adjustable support feet:
- makes maintenance easier, because all the main components can be reached by simply removing the front panel;
- moves more easily, thanks to the lower handle;
- can be transported even in small vans, thanks to its compact size and the possibility of laying it down in a horizontal position.

Built-in condensate drip pan and unique "Scale Trap" filter
Built-in condensate drip tray
Inside the reversible Hydrotank units there is space for the condensate collection tray. The unit is prepared with a drainage pipe with drainage at the rear.
Exclusive "Scale Trap" Filter
Thanks to the combination of the plate heat exchanger and the unique "Scale trap" filter, the performance of the ACS cycle remains unchanged over time.
In traditional systems, there is a risk that calcium, precipitating, will be deposited inside the exchanger, reducing its exchange surface area.
The Hydrotank is equipped with the unique "Scale trap" filter that homogeneously captures precipitated calcium before it has a chance to settle in the exchanger. In this way, heat exchange is maintained unchanged, ensuring high performance for domestic hot water production.
Minimum plant water content
Less than 1 liter per kW
A minimum volume of system water must be guaranteed for each specific outdoor unit, which for Ecodan® and Zubadan split units, for installations in areas with climates that are not too harsh, is less than 1 liter per kW of outdoor unit capacity. This implies that, in many cases, it will not be necessary to provide inertial volume to meet the minimum required volume.
FTC6 - Flow Temperature Control 6
Heat pump programming: maximum comfort and optimization
Hydronic modules are equipped with an electronic control unit for managing the heat pump and the system called FTC - Flow Temperature Control.
Thanks to FTC, the heat pump can be programmed to provide maximum comfort at maximum efficiency and optimized according to the system.
FTC can adjust the heating water temperature in 3 modes:
- fixed point;
- compensation curve;
- self-adaptive mode.
Compensation curve
Water temperature varies according to the outdoor temperature detected by the heat pump, without the need for additional probes.

Self-Adaptive Mode
Mitsubishi Electric's Self-Adaptive Mode detects the temperature of the indoor and outdoor environment and calculates the heat demand to be supplied to the room, ensuring the correct energy supply while avoiding energy waste. In addition, through dynamic estimation on future trends in room temperature, the system avoids unnecessary increases in the supply temperature; the indoor temperature can thus be kept stable, increasing comfort and energy savings.

Two-zone control
In the case of system consisting of different terminals, e.g., radiant floor and radiators, FTC will effectively regulate water temperature to enable proper terminal supply. The heat pump will produce water at the highest supply temperature (Zone 1) and an FTC-controlled mixing valve will regulate the temperature in Zone 2 at a lower temperature.
It is also possible to control by mixing valve Zone 1, an ideal solution in case of inertial puffer and Smart Grid, giving priority to the heat stored in the puffer.
New two-zone control kit
The new kit is complete with all components to service two thermal zones, one direct high-temperature and one mixed low-temperature, as well as having 3 selectable circulation pump speeds. It has compact dimensions and is easy to install-a small-sized box that can be installed on the Hydrotank or hung on the wall for connection to the Hydrobox.
Optimization of DHW production thanks to the second TH25B thermistor
Thanks to the use of an additional probe in the tank, it is now possible to adapt the operation of DHW cycles according to consumption.
DHW Rank: The energy classes shown in the table refer to a scale from A+ to F.
Intelligent interlock with boiler
The FTC controller can combine heat pump operation with an existing boiler. The choice of which heat generation to use is made automatically according to the following settable parameters:
- outdoor temperature;
- operating costs (insert gas and electricity cost);
- level of CO2 emissions (enter values of CO2 emitted);
- external input In addition, in case of emergency, the boiler can be operated as a back-up generator.
SG Ready: integration with photovoltaic systems
For high heat load requirements in heating and/or cooling, up to 6 Ecodan units can be connected in cascade. The system is managed by a master control unit and always operates at optimum efficiency, even at part loads.
SD Tool
Dedicated tool for Ecodan systems to enter operation settings and make startup easier. In addition, operation data of more than 2 months are stored in the SD card of the data logger and can be used for diagnostic purposes with the use of a pc and dedicated software.

Wireless thermostat
Ecodan's new wireless thermostat allows you to accurately control indoor temperature and transmit to FTC so as to optimize heat pump operation with self-adaptive mode. Through the wireless thermostat it will also be possible to force ACS operation.
