Mitsubishi Electric presents a new addition to its family of air-to-water heat pumps with performance optimized for very low outdoor temperatures: PUZ-SHWM.

Heat pumps are an energy-efficient system for space heating because they use renewable thermal energy found in the air, water, or ground. To avoid the unpleasant scenario in which as the outside temperature decreases, the capacity delivered decreases, just when the heat demand increases, Mitsubishi Electric has patented an innovative technology that places no limits on the operation of the heat pump.

Thanks, in fact, to Flash Injection technology, Zubadan series outdoor units are able to guarantee nominal heating output down to -15°C and continuous operation down to -30°C. Conventional units perform defrost cycles even when there is no ice on the evaporator coil. The new control system that equips Zubadan split R32 Reversibles accurately detects any ice formation, delaying cycle reversal as much as possible for better comfort and efficiency. Flash Injection technology is achieved through the use of two specific components: The HIC exchanger and the injection compressor. To increase the volume of refrigerant circulating in the circuit, the scroll compressor is equipped with an injection valve to ensure high efficiency at low temperatures.

In addition to ensuring excellent performance, thanks to the use of the new low-GWP R32 refrigerant, greenhouse gas emissions of the new Zubadans have been reduced by more than 90 percent.

Available in four sizes (8, 10, 12, 14 kW), the new units can boast a single chassis for all sizes. In terms of performance, on the other hand, the reversible PUZ-SHWMs provide at the same time not only class A++ heating and cooling but also class A+ domestic hot water production.

The PUZ-SHWMs are also available in two sizes.

Compact size, comfort, quietness (improved over previous versions) and functionality are guaranteed down to -30°C, and the flow water temperature of up to 60°C allows adaptation to any system configuration.

The system can be controlled both locally and remotely via the MelCloud platform: with a mobile device (smartphone, tablet...) the user is able to adjust temperature, control domestic hot water, and monitor energy consumption.

Finally, the new control logic that equips Zubadan split R32 units ensures reduced fluctuation in operation by reducing frequency changes from 17 to 4 times in an hour. In this way, in addition to achieving efficiency, compressor life is also prolonged.
