The project

Currently under construction is the first lot on the artificial island, created following the excavation and flooding of the new canals. This is where the "hulls," a residential hub directly facing the sea and designed to comply with the NZEB, Nearly Zero Energy Building, approach, will rise. These are the first two buildings in Liguria to be LEED-certified, built with fine materials in full respect of the environment, with large glass surfaces to maximize sea views and natural lighting. The design of the residential complex was entrusted to the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and OBR studios.

The realization of the Island District is also being helped by Mitsubishi Electric, which will supply equipment for the air conditioning and ventilation system. The Japanese company, in fact, will provide technologies that, in addition to ensuring maximum living comfort, respect the natural elements, the sea in particular.

For this Levante Waterfront intervention, Mitsubishi Electric will provide its heat pumps, which, in addition to providing the ideal climate in any season, will also be used to produce domestic hot water. Considering the proximity to the sea, high-efficiency FX-W-G05 /H models will be installed for air conditioning and EW-HT models will be installed for domestic hot water production, all of which will use precisely the sea as a source. This model in particular, FX-W-G05 /H was designed and re-adapted for the occasion to meet the needs of indoor comfort and well-being, offering unbeatable levels of efficiency and reduced environmental impact through the use of low-GWP green refrigerant. The task of coordinating the air conditioning system and the machines dedicated to the production of domestic hot water will be entrusted to MANAGER3000+ 2T, the centralized control system dedicated to the management of heat pumps and multi-purpose units for the simultaneous production of hot and cold water. MANAGER3000+ makes it possible to effectively manage heat loads based on actual system demand and constantly monitor plant conditions by selecting the best performing sequence of units.

The management of air exchange and recirculation and primary ventilation will also be handled by the Japanese company's solutions with AHU WIZARD models, featuring high-efficiency heat recovery systems and components capable of ensuring the control of air exchange conditions. In order to be able to withstand the marine environment, these units have been fully customized by paying great attention to the protection of the internal components, furthermore, in order to fit into such a state-of-the-art architectural context, even their dimensions have been reduced and designed ad hoc to respect the available overall dimensions.

"Waterfront of Levante is the future of architecture and we are truly honored to be part of it. With Renzo Piano we share a focus on people's well-being and respect for the environment surrounding the buildings he designs."

said Fabrizio Maja, Branch Vice President of Mitsubishi Electric.

"We set the goal, with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, to make a generation leap in residential real estate supply throughout the region. In line with international best practices. So not only iconic architecture, but also an outstanding focus on sustainability and wellbeing for users. So here we have leed-certified, gold-level real estate, thalassothermal (i.e., the use of seawater as the basis for generating heat and cold), a photovoltaic flying carpet that covers much of condominium consumption. On wellbeing, I like to mention the various communal spaces for gym, smart working, convivial activities, etc., as well as primary air filtration in the apartments that will lead to air purity above common standards. A high challenge that sees Mitsubishi Electric at our side."

said Massimo Moretti, General Manager of CDS Holding Spa, a partner of the Japanese company.

The residential lot of Levant Waterfront will be completed in the first half of 2024.
