Cambiocavallo Resort chooses Mitsubishi Electric for air conditioning in its suites

The boutique hotel Cambiocavallo Unesco-Area Resort was born from the recovery of an ancient "posada," a resting place for travelers on horseback. The new resort is located in Modica, a charming and scenic town in the Val di Noto, surrounded by a lush Arab-Mediterranean garden, immersed in the Hyblean countryside and an area rich in historical, architectural, archaeological and environmental values.
For the construction of the accommodation facility, consisting of 20 design rooms, a restaurant and a large swimming pool with solarium area, the ancient plexus underwent a major renovation project, which, however, kept intact the original elements: ceilings with canes and chestnut beams, exposed stone walls, lime plasters with warm colors. The elements of the old structure are now joined by a contemporary, linear and minimalist design and all the comforts of a modern hotel.
The air conditioning system, which also includes air exchange and with heat recovery, has been entrusted to Mitsubishi Electric, which, thanks to the long experience of the professional qualified installer Degnoclima, has developed a custom design for the structure capable of creating a whole with the architectural elements of the boutique hotel.
For the prestigious structure, it was decided to install a VRF air conditioning system consisting of 2 PUHY-P250YKM outdoor units, 12 PEFY-P32VMA ducted indoor units, 4 heat recovery units that not only ensure distributed airflow but also allow independent control of the indoor units. Great attention has also been paid to the design of the technical rooms that house the Mitsubishi Electric units, which, thanks to the architectural and structural continuum of the resort, remain "hidden" albeit positioned next to the suites, thus also ensuring maximum energy efficiency.
"We worked closely with the client, L.C.T. Architecture, to find a solution that was not only performant but aesthetically curated and unique," said Giuseppe Degno, of Degnoclima, IQP of Mitsubishi Electric.
With the VRF system installed, Cambiocavallo Resort saved 60.5 percent of CO2 released into the atmosphere compared to a corresponding system with a natural gas boiler (results compiled from ENEA data on the national electricity mix). In addition, the heat recuperator with post-conditioning coil allows the air in the rooms to be reciprocated, retaining about 81.5 percent of the heat released into the room, further increasing the efficiency of the system.
